Tbilisi - beautiful and hospitable capital of Georgia is built on the banks of the Mtkvari river. The name of the city comes from the word “Tbili” meaning "warm" due to the sulfur springs in this area.
This is an ancient city with a history of more than 1500 years. Since its establishment the Georgian capital gained a special geo-political importance at the crossroads of Europe and Asia and therefore, regional powers where extremely keen to take the city.
Currently, Tbilisi is a modern, political, cultural and economic center of regional importance with lots of historic and cultural monuments, cathedrals, medieval fortresses, old quarters in the downtown and recreation areas.

Rustaveli Avenue is considered to be the main street of Tbilisi. It is especially popular to dine in nearby restaurants and cafes.
The most famous attractions, located in the city and around Tbilisi: Narikala, the Funicular, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Anchiskhati Church, the monument of the Mother of Kartli, the medieval sulfur bathes, Kashveti Church, the Georgian National Museum, the Tbilisi Opera, Botanical Garden and many other.
